Dr. Scott C Lougheed holds a PhD in Environmental Studies from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.

His current work follows two primary strands: Waste and its governance – particularly in terms of the role of the consumer under EPR and nascent zero waste initiatives; the emergence of "new" proteins and the proteinization of global diets.

His dissertation research queried how certain configurations of risk governance, the biopolitical governance of food safety in particular, can be generative of waste through an examination of food recalls in Canada and the United States.

When Scott is not conducting his research, he is a freelance sound engineer, an enthusiastic artisanal bread baker, and technophile. You can connect with him on his personal website
